Pulp Molding Dies

Pulp molding dies, also referred to as pulp molds or paper tray molds, are essential, consumable components in pulp molding machines. For standard molded paper tray products like egg trays and cup holders, the molds feature simple structures and can be easily swapped when replacements are needed. However, for industrial padding and cushioning applications, the shapes and sizes of these molds vary significantly. A key requirement is that the finished paper tray product maintains consistent thickness throughout, regardless of its specific shape.

What is the role of pulping mold

  • Shape Formation: The mold shapes and sizes egg trays to accommodate various types of eggs, featuring egg pockets and edge designs that securely hold each egg in place.
  • Quality Stabilization: The mold ensures uniform shape, structure, and dimensions across all egg trays in a production batch, minimizing defects and ensuring that each tray meets quality standards.
  • Efficiency Enhancement: By working in tandem with the egg tray machine, the mold supports high-efficiency production, forming multiple egg trays simultaneously. This setup reduces production costs, increases output, and ultimately boosts profitability for customers.

Manufacturing Process Of Pulp Mold Dies

  • Design Phase
Designers begin by analyzing and calculating the mold’s usage requirements, and creating preliminary design drawings. Once the initial design is complete, a review process ensures that the structure, size, and other parameters of the mold are reasonable, feasible, and aligned with customer specifications.

  • Manufacturing Phase
Based on the finalized design, engineers individually produce the upper mold, lower mold, mold supports, and other components. This process involves various machines, such as milling, drilling, and grinding machines, to achieve precise dimensions and surface finishes. After initial manufacturing, additional treatments like heat treatment and sandblasting are applied to enhance the mold's strength and durability.

  • Precision Machining Phase
Precision machining is performed to ensure the mold's accuracy and surface quality meet all specifications. This phase includes planetary grinding, general grinding, electrical discharge machining (EDM), polishing, and more. EDM is especially crucial for achieving accuracy in deep and non-circular holes.

  • Assembly & Debugging
Once each mold component meets the specified accuracy and surface standards, the mold is assembled. Debugging, testing, and verification then follow to ensure all parts function smoothly together, achieving optimal performance and surface quality.
